Every month, OldBlue Server uses approx. $42 worth of electricity.
Repairs
As with anything, components wear out. OldBlue Server runs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and only gets breaks during thunderstorms, which are more dangerous around here than you’d think. But whether it’s old age, or lightning, periodically it is necessary to replace parts on it.
3rd Party Components
Many of the “behind the scenes” programs that make the services run are powered by subscription based engines and get paid annually, but comes out to roughly $11.60 a month.
Upgrades
Eventually, no amount of repairs can compensate for an out of date machine. Making incremental upgrades can drastically improve the performance of the server, maintain compatibility in a fast changing world of tech, as well as keep up with the storage needs of its users.

On July 31st, 2021 there was a storm, and before everything could be powered down as we usually do, the power flickered. After the storms passed, the server did not come back up. Testing determined the power supply was the culprit. Below is the needed power supply for replacement.
(On a future note, we should probably crowdfund a UPS at some point to avoid these kinds of problem. Eventually)
